HONORING Bruce VanNosdall in recognition of his
prompt and heroic actions in rescuing three people
from a house fire

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, remaining calm
under pressure, in an effort to preserve the life of another; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bruce VanNosdall in recognition of his prompt and heroic actions in
rescuing three individuals from a house fire; and

WHEREAS, Bruce VanNosdall and his friend, Kenneth Weinert, were
driving north on Bloomingburg Road in the Town of Wallkill on Saturday,
October 27, 2018, when they spotted smoke and flames corning from a
home; and

WHEREAS, Bruce VanNosdall asked his friend to pull over, ran to the
back of the trailer and began banging on the windows and entered the
back of the home; once inside, he found a young boy and an elderly
woman; and

WHEREAS, Without hesitation or regard for his own safety, Bruce
VanNosdall helped get the woman and the young boy to safety and then
proceeded to a rear bedroom where he found an elderly man sleeping; he
woke the man and assisted him out of the burning trailer; and

WHEREAS, Praised for maintaining his composure and his professional
conduct, Bruce VanNosdall demonstrated his true character and genuine
compassion for the well-being of others; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Bruce
VanNosdall is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Bruce VanNosdall through his spontaneous and heroic
actions, demonstrated his character and his compassion for the welfare
of others, personifying, by virtue of his actions, the collective
concern of ordinary citizens across the community of the State of New
York who voluntarily respond when others are in need of help; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bruce VanNosdall in recognition of his prompt and heroic actions
in rescuing three individuals from a house fire; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bruce VanNosdall.
