CELEBRATING the life of Jason Cooper,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Jason Cooper of New Suffolk, New York, died on June 7, 2017
at the age of 47; and
WHEREAS, A beloved 16-year-member of the Cutchogue Fire Department,
Jason Cooper served his community in a plethora of ways over the course
of his extraordinary life; before his death, he held the esteemed
position of lieutenant with the fire department's water rescue team; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in New Suffolk, Jason Cooper graduated from
Southold High School with the Class of 1988, before serving in the
United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Jason Cooper spent the past 18 years serving with the Air
National Guard, most recently as an accessories branch master sergeant
at Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Jason Cooper successfully earned a seat on the New
Suffolk Board of Education, further showing his commitment to both the
citizens of New Suffolk, and his community at large; and
WHEREAS, To show appreciation for his lifelong contributions to the
community, a roadway in Cutchogue, New York, will be posthumously named
after Jason Cooper; and
WHEREAS, Jason Cooper is survived by the love of his life, Jeanette,
as well as their children, Thomas, Robert, and Anna; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jason Cooper leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life of Jason Cooper, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Jason Cooper.
