COMMENDING Valedictorian Olivia Wong and
Salutatorian Adithya Krishnan of New Hyde Park
Memorial High School, in recognition of their
outstanding accomplishments

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Valedictorian Olivia Wong and Salutatorian Adithya Krishnan of New Hyde
Park Memorial High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian Olivia Wong and Salutatorian Adithya Krishnan
represent the best of developed potential inherent in our most precious
resource, our youth; their achievements have brought enduring honor to
their families and communities and should be recognized and saluted; and

WHEREAS, A stellar student, a talented musician and artist, and a
compassionate person, Olivia Wong, whose interests and strengths are
varied, loves science, reading, writing, music and art; she is the
principal violinist in the school's orchestra and string ensemble, as
well as in the Sewanhaka Central High School District orchestra; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, she participates in the All-County Orchestra
and the New York State School Music Association's All-State Symphonic
Orchestra; and

WHEREAS, Olivia Wong's art has been selected for display in LIU
Post's student art gallery and she is the editor-in-chief of the
school's newspaper, The Chariot; this past year, she and a friend
started a virtual tutoring program for students needing assistance due
to Covid-19 and raised significant funds which were donated to Island
Harvest; and

WHEREAS, An intelligent and academically driven student, Adithya
Krishnan scored impressively on the Preliminary SAT which earned him the
recognition of being a National Merit Commended Student; he is an active
member of numerous extracurricular activities, including Science
Olympiads, Mathletes and New Hyde Heroes Club; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, he serves as the secretary of Spanish Club,
and plays piano, trombone and tuba for the Jazz Band, as well as the
sousaphone in the marching band; and

WHEREAS, Adithya Krishnan is well-versed in ancient South Indian
Tamil percussion music and performs with the New York Parai Musical
Group, which he and others founded; he has also dedicated countless
hours to volunteer at the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and
Rehabilitation in both the physical therapy and occupational therapy
departments; and


WHEREAS, Valedictorian Olivia Wong and Salutatorian Adithya Krishnan
may now stand with pride as they assess their achievements, experience
the satisfaction of their labors and the joy of their accomplishments,
eager to face the new experiences of a challenging world; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Valedictorian Olivia Wong and Salutatorian Adithya Krishnan of
New Hyde Park Memorial High School, in recognition of their outstanding
accomplishments; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Valedictorian Olivia Wong and Salutatorian Adithya
Krishnan.
