MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
March 4, 2022, as Grammar Day in the State of New
York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official days that are set aside to increase awareness of initiatives
which affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 4, 2022, as Grammar
Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the observance of
National Grammar Day; and

WHEREAS, National Grammar Day was established in 2008, by Martha
Brockenbrough, founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar
(SPOGG); and

WHEREAS, Grammar is a set of rules for understanding language;
understanding the system and the structure of language enables us to
understand each other better and can help us to learn new languages; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to help increase
awareness of initiatives which affect the lives of citizens of New York
State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 4, 2022, as Grammar
Day in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
