Senate Resolution No. 1547

COMMENDING former Senator George A. Amedore, Jr.
for his illustrious service as a dedicated political
leader and strong advocate for the people of the
State of New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals of distinguished purpose whose lives have been
committed to public service and the pursuit of excellence in the conduct
of the legislative process in this noble Empire State; George A.
Amedore, Jr. is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend former Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. for his illustrious
service as a dedicated political leader and strong advocate for the
people of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. was elected in 2014 to
represent the Southern and Western Capital Region-area residents of the
46th Senate District, where he served with honor and distinction from
2015 until 2020; and
WHEREAS, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. brought his experience as a
small business owner to his role as a public servant, championing lower
taxes and reducing regulations on New York businesses to encourage them
to grow and improve the state's economic climate; and
WHEREAS, In 2011, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. was instrumental in
connecting state and local resources to families and communities which
were impacted by the devastating floods following Tropical Storms Irene
and Lee; and
WHEREAS, As co-Chair of the Senate's Task Force on Heroin and Opioid
Addiction, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. helped establish New York
State as a leader in the fight against addiction by ensuring access to
treatment and recovery services for those who struggle with dependency;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. helped shepherd
through the first meaningful reforms to workers' compensation in more
than a decade, which helped make it more affordable for businesses
throughout New York; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his election as a Senator, George A. Amedore, Jr.
was a member of the New York State Assembly serving the 105th Assembly
District from July of 2007 to December 31, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Well-known throughout the Capital Region for being involved
in many charitable endeavors, the Amedore family was responsible for
rebuilding the family room at Albany's Ronald McDonald House, as well as
the remodeling of Camp Amedore, an Adirondack-style family space at the
Children's Hospital located at Albany Medical Center; they also
constructed a local memorial to honor New York State veterans; and
WHEREAS, George A. Amedore, Jr. resides in Rotterdam, New York, with
his wife, Joelle, and together they are the proud parents of three
children; and
WHEREAS, Every citizen in New York State has most certainly
benefited, in one way or another, from the deep dedication, intelligence
and commitment former Senator George A. Amedore, Jr. brought to his work
as a legislator, loyal friend, and trusted advisor; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to reflect upon
those outstanding individuals who have made everlasting contributions on
behalf of their fellow man and have truly left their mark on this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and applaud the many accomplishments of former Senator George
A. Amedore, Jr., and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to former New York State Senator George A. Amedore, Jr.
