HONORING pioneer and champion of reproductive care
and rights, Evelyn Gay, posthumously upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2022
Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Legacy Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the purposeful lives and good works of those outstanding
individuals who dedicated their lives to protecting the rights and care
of the residents of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
pioneer and champion of reproductive care and rights, Evelyn Gay,
posthumously upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Legacy Award, to be celebrated at its
Spring Benefit at The Paramount Theater in Huntington, New York, on
Wednesday, April 27, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gay established Planned Parenthood of North Suffolk,
New York, more than 70 years ago, allowing countless residents of the
local community to receive quality healthcare and health education
regardless of their income, insurance, gender identity, sexual
orientation, race, or immigration status; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Evelyn Gay has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, The success of Planned Parenthood North Suffolk is in
direct correlation to the efforts of Evelyn Gay; her involvement had
been characterized by an impressive commitment, a deep care for others,
and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf
of the business and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to reflect upon
those outstanding individuals who have made everlasting contributions on
behalf of their fellow citizens, and have truly left their mark on this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor pioneer and champion of reproductive care and rights, Evelyn Gay,
posthumously upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2022 Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Legacy Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Evelyn Gay.
