COMMENDING the Schuyler Center for Analysis and
Advocacy upon the occasion of celebrating its 150th
Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy upon the occasion
of its 150th Anniversary to be celebrated at an event on Wednesday, May
11, 2022, at the New York State Museum in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy (SCAA) was
founded by Louisa Lee Schuyler in 1872, with the intent and purpose of
pursuing policies to raise every child and family out of poverty and
into opportunity; and
WHEREAS, Today, SCAA remains true to Louisa Lee Schuyler's belief in
social justice infused with hope, optimism, and confidence in change
achieved through service, advocacy, and organization; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President and CEO Kate
Breslin, SCAA diligently works to advocate for polices which center
children and families, including high quality and universal child care
and pre-Kindergarten; reducing racial disparities and improving outcomes
in health and child welfare; thoughtful tax policy; and strengthening
New York's public health infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, The success of SCAA is in direct correlation to the efforts
of its Board of Trustees and staff, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations dedicated to the health and welfare of our young people
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy upon the occasion
of celebrating its 150th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kate Breslin, President and CEO, Schuyler Center for
Analysis and Advocacy.
