CONGRATULATING Cora Feldt upon the occasion of
receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette
Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement
WHEREAS, Cora Feldt was honored with the Girl Scout Silver Award,
Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second highest
achievement; and
WHEREAS, Cora Feldt is a member of the Girl Scouts of America Troop
40169, Ithaca, New York; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of
working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, Cora Feldt completed a Silver Award community service
project entitled "Project T.A.S.K." which benefited children at the
Cayuga Medical Center; she developed and executed her project in
partnership with her friend and fellow Scout, Kathryn Holloway; the two
girls held workshops at the Cornell Library Makerspace and the Tompkins
County Public Library to teach volunteers how to sew ugly dolls for
children in the hospital in hopes of lifting their spirits post-surgery;
and
WHEREAS, After over 50 hours of volunteer effort spent designing and
executing her project, Cora Feldt was able to deliver 70 dolls to the
Cayuga Medical Center, surely making a positive difference in the
surgery experience for the children and families in the Medical Center;
and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Cora Feldt's high character and commitment, and is
a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State and
our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cora Feldt, recognizing her achievement in earning the Girl
Scout Silver Award, and to wish her continued success in all her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cora Feldt.
