MOURNING the death of Frank A. Caterino Jr.,
distinguished citizen, dedicated family man and
devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Frank A. Caterino Jr. of Ossining, New York, died on
February 14, 2022, at the age of 96; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 22, 1925, to the late Frank A. Caterino
Sr. and Margaret (Landgraff) Caterino, he was one of seven children;
and
WHEREAS, Frank A. Caterino Jr. and the former Dorothy Herterick of
Croton, New York, were united in marriage in 1950 at the Asbury
Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Frank A. Caterino Jr. distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, A sheet metal engineer for a succession of companies, the
last of which was Singer Kearfott in New Jersey, Frank A. Caterino Jr.
worked tirelessly at his job, advancing to a position where he created
metal cabinets for electronic guidance systems to be installed in
military aircraft, the esteemed position from which he would retire; and
WHEREAS, Upon retiring in the late 1980s, Frank A. Caterino Jr.
spent his time repairing lawn mowers and small engines, as well as
fishing, and building houses in Croton and Vermont, along with his many
volunteer activities; and
WHEREAS, Frank A. Caterino Jr.'s commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, In 1956, Frank A. Caterino Jr. joined Croton Fire Patrol
No. 1 of the Croton-On-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department; throughout over
60 years of proud service, he served in many positions, including
Lieutenant, Captain, President, Treasurer Secretary and Engineer of
Marine 32 (swift water rescue boat); furthermore, during his time with
the department, he was instrumental in the construction of the new
Harmon Fire House which remains today; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Asbury Methodist Church, Frank A. Caterino
Jr. graciously served as a member of the Board of Trustees as well as
caretaker of Bethel cemetery and chapel; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Frank A. Caterino Jr. was a member of the Croton Yacht Club
and participated in the design and construction of the new Club
Headquarters; he also coached a team with the Croton Little League and
spent time at Camp Read with the Croton Boy Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his
brothers, Larry and Tom; and his sisters, Louise, Claire and Margie;
Frank A. Caterino Jr. is survived by his two sons, John Marc Caterino
and Frank Eric Caterino; his adored grandchildren, Erica (Baldwin), Joe
Caterino, Jessica (Grano), Christopher Caterino and Conor Caterino; and
two great-grandchildren; Avery Baldwin and Vincent Caterino; as well as
his sister, Bette Matero; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Frank A. Caterino Jr. leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Frank A. Caterino Jr., and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Frank A. Caterino Jr.
