COMMEMORATING the 120th Anniversary of Visiting
Nurse Services in Westchester
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Visiting Nurse Services in
Westchester; and
WHEREAS, Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester (VNS Westchester) is
the largest and only independent not-for-profit, Medicare-certified home
healthcare agency in Westchester that also serves the Bronx, Dutchess,
Putnam, and Rockland counties; and
WHEREAS, VNS Westchester reduces the risk of emergency
hospitalizations and the need for other institutionalization through
exceptional skilled nursing, rehabilitation, home health aides, social
work, and care coordination services; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization's compassion and concern for its
patients' welfare give families the peace of mind that their loved one
is in good hands; and
WHEREAS, VNSW at Home, an affiliate of Visiting Nurse Services in
Westchester, provides certified Home Health Aides on an hourly or
live-in basis to help seniors and others in need of assistance with the
tasks of daily living; and
WHEREAS, Highly trained and deeply committed, the Home Health Aides
provide companionship as well as personal care and household services;
and
WHEREAS, VNSW Community Care Navigation, Inc. provides comprehensive
life planning, care navigation, and wellness services in the comfort of
your home in-person or virtually; staff works closely with individuals
and/or family members to provide services that take into consideration
their goals and wishes regarding physical and cognitive wellness, social
and emotional needs, legal matters (e.g., advanced directives),
occupational goals, and living environment; and
WHEREAS, Through the Community Care Navigation Program, VNSW can
help adults who are facing transitional life changes to provide them and
their families a greater sense of well-being and peace of mind; and
WHEREAS, The mission of this organization has remained consistent
for 120 years: to promote the health and well-being of patients,
members, and families by providing expert, accessible, and
cost-effective health care in the home and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that, when
organizations of such extraordinary achievement are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Visiting Nurse Services in
Westchester; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester.
