HONORING Pastor Nicholas TeBordo upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the 2021 Third
Age Achievement Award by Lifepath
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Pastor
Nicholas TeBordo upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2021 Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath, to be celebrated at
its 25th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Wolferts
Roost Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lifepath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and
friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to
help them stay connected to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives (after turning 60 years
old); Pastor Nicholas TeBordo is truly deserving of this prestigious
award; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Salem, New York, Nicholas TeBordo attended
Hamilton College and Princeton Theological Seminary before moving to
Cohoes, New York, with his wife, Reverend Terrie Stine-TeBordo, on June
1, 1977, the same day they both graduated from seminary; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary couple were the first husband and wife
co-pastors in the Presbytery of Albany as they began their service at
the United Church of Cohoes while raising their seven wonderful
children; and
WHEREAS, After his wife's death in 2003, Pastor Nicholas TeBordo
continued as solo pastor at United Church; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, Pastor Nicholas TeBordo married Roberta Fath, who
had one child; they have recently added an adult daughter to their
family of nine children and 18 grandchildren, as well as numerous others
they call "near grandchildren"; and
WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his illustrious pastoral career four
years ago, Nicholas TeBordo passed the mantle of leadership of the
United Church to his daughter, Kaitlyn Wood; he continues to serve as an
associate for pastoral care and also conducts a weekly communion service
and preaches about once every six weeks; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this distinguished man of God is fully
involved in the Matthew 25 ministries which includes weekly congregate
dining and the distribution of free clothing to all those in need within
the local community; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the
community, Nicholas TeBordo also accompanies the Silver Tops who
rehearse at the Cohoes Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas TeBordo truly lives his life in service to others,
and looks forward to continuing to serve the Lord in his family, his
church, and in the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Pastor Nicholas TeBordo has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Pastor Nicholas TeBordo upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2021 Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pastor Nicholas TeBordo.
