HONORING Dr. John D. Bennett upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2021 Third Age
Achievement Award by Lifepath

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. John D.
Bennett upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2021
Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath, to be celebrated at its 25th
Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Wolferts Roost Country
Club, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Lifepath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and
friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to
help them stay connected to their communities; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives (after turning 60
years-old); Dr. John D. Bennett is truly deserving of this prestigious
award; and

WHEREAS, Dr. John D. Bennett, MD, FACC, FACP was named President and
CEO of CDPHP in July of 2008, after serving more than 10 years as chair,
vice chair, and board member of the Capital Region's leading
not-for-profit health plan; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Dr. John D. Bennett, CDPHP has
been recognized as one of the top-rated plans in the nation, and has
been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York for 12
consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining CDPHP, Dr. John D. Bennett served as
founding member and CEO of Prime Care Physicians, PLLC; during his
tenure, he co-led a team of 25 cardiologists and helped grow the
practice to a 100-physician multi-specialty group; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary man is board certified by the National
Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine,
with subspecialties in internal medicine and cardiology; he earned his
medical degree at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, and a
Bachelor of Science degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, John D. Bennett completed an internship and
residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular
disease at Albany Medical Center; he is a Fellow of the American College
of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Dr. John D. Bennett is currently board chair for the Center
for Economic Growth and the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), and
co-chair of the Palace Theatre board; he also serves on the boards of
the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), America's Health
Insurance Plans (AHIP), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and The Sage
Colleges; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. John D. Bennett is a member of the New
York Public Health and Health Planning Council, a position he was
appointed to by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo; and

WHEREAS, Well-known locally and nationally for advancing health care
innovation, Dr. John D. Bennett was recently named to the Tech Valley
Business Hall of Fame; prior to that, he was awarded the 2016
Marketer/Communicator of the Year award by the Capital Region chapters
of the American Marketing Association and Public Relations Society of
America; and

WHEREAS, That same year, Dr. John D. Bennett was also awarded the
2016 Promoting the Advancement of Technology in Healthcare (PATH) Award
from the New York e-Health Collaborative (NYeC); and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. John D. Bennett has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. John D. Bennett upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2021 Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. John D. Bennett.
