CELEBRATING the life and accomplishments of
Captain Christine Milosich, dedicated public servant
and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous officer who dedicated her purposeful life and career in
faithful service to her family, Erie County and the Town of Tonawanda
Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Christine "Chrissy" Milosich died on Monday, March 1, 2021,
at the age of 39; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Kenmore West High School in 1999,
Christine Milosich majored in criminal justice at Hilbert College; and

WHEREAS, Christine Milosich then began her esteemed career in law
enforcement as an intern for the Kenmore Police Department; in 2008, she
was hired by the Town of Tonawanda Police Department (TTPD), and months
later, graduated from the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure with the TTPD, Christine Milosich
served as a field training officer for recruits, received many letters
of appreciation, and earned a commendation for preventing a distraught
woman from jumping off a train bridge in Tonawanda; and

WHEREAS, In 2017, this compassionate and highly skilled officer was
promoted to Lieutenant, making her the first woman in TTPD to earn this
rank; three years later, amid the global pandemic, Lieutenant Milosich
was assigned to a command post, as Community Services Lieutenant, a
previously defunct role in the department; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Lieutenant Christine Milosich was
instrumental in transforming the department's relations with the
community by posting regular Facebook Live talks for the public's
benefit, organizing a town-wide outdoor scavenger hunt to help local
children through the upheaval of that summer, and assisted with the
town's effort to collect public input on its reform plan for the State
of New York; and

WHEREAS, Upon the occasion of her death after a battle with cancer,
Lieutenant Christine Milosich was posthumously promoted to the rank of
Captain, once again, the first woman in the TTPD to do so; and

WHEREAS, Christine Milosich is survived by her husband, Joe
Milosich, her parents, her brothers, and many other loved ones and
friends, who will long cherish her memory; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her meritorious life, Christine Milosich touched
many through her kindness and commitment to service, and, as we recall
the loss of this strong trailblazer, we memorialize her remarkable life

and the enormous impact she had on everyone with whom she came in
contact; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of a
courageous police officer who dedicated her purposeful life and career
in faithful service to her family and community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of Captain Christine Milosich,
dedicated public servant and devoted member of her community; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Captain Christine Milosich.
