HONORING Melinda Mack upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition and celebrating
her contributions to the New York Association of
Training and Employment Professionals and to youth
employment

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community and their profession; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Melinda Mack upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition and to celebrate her contributions to the New York
Association of Training and Employment Professionals and to youth
employment; and

WHEREAS, Melinda Mack is the Executive Director of the New York
Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP), a
nationally recognized, leading nonprofit membership association in the
field of workforce development; and

WHEREAS, Its focus is ensuring that every New Yorker and employer in
New York State has access to the skills they need to work in, and
support a robust statewide economy; and

WHEREAS, NYATEP supports the engagement and development of workforce
boards, business organizations, education and training providers,
economic development entities, organized labor, elected officials and
government agencies to sustain and enhance education, training, and
employment for all New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Executive Director Melinda
Mack, NYATEP is the voice of the statewide workforce development
community on the issues that matter at the federal, state, and local
policy levels; and

WHEREAS, As an expert in public policy and systems relating to
education and workforce development, she champions the investment in and
expansion of promising and evidence-based practices to improve outcomes
for New Yorkers, the use of data to drive decision-making, and for
eliminating silos that deter from high quality services; and

WHEREAS, Melinda Mack is a co-lead of the Invest in Skills NY
partnership, and in response to COVID-19, has recently published A New
Way Forward: Bold Actions to Reshape New York's Labor Market; and

WHEREAS, She testifies before the New York State Legislature on a
regular basis and has been called before Congress to lend her expertise;
and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Melinda Mack proudly serves on the National
Skills Coalition Board, New Ways to Work, New York State Economic
Development Council and Albany Can Code, and was tapped to serve on both
Governor Cuomo's and Mayor de Blasio's economic recovery task forces;
and

WHEREAS, In recognition of her dedication, commitment and efforts on
behalf of her community and her profession, it is the custom of this
Legislative Body to extend its highest commendation to Melinda Mack;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Melinda Mack upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition and to celebrate her contributions to the New York
Association of Training and Employment Professionals and to youth
employment; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Melinda Mack.
