MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
November 2021, as Military Family Appreciation Month
in the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official months that are set aside to pay tribute to the family members
of the United States Military who have so faithfully served their
community and country with courage and commitment, contributing to the
safety and welfare of others and the preservation of the freedoms and
democratic principles upon which this State and Nation are founded; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim November 2021, as
Military Family Appreciation Month in the State of New York, in
conjunction with the observance of National Military Family Appreciation
Month; and

WHEREAS, Military families are silent heroes who are essential to
the strength of the Nation, and they serve our country just like their
loved ones; and

WHEREAS, America's military families are the backbone of this
country, supporting our troops during mission, deployment, reintegration
and reset; and

WHEREAS, National Military Family Appreciation Month was established
in 1996, by the Armed Services YMCA, with the United States Government
recognizing the occasion every year since; each November, the President
signs a proclamation declaring Military Family Appreciation Month; and

WHEREAS, During National Military Family Appreciation Month, we
celebrate the loved ones of our country's men and women in uniform and
recognize the sacrifices they have made in support of our Nation's
heroes; and

WHEREAS, Military families truly know what is means to serve; each
and every day, they get up and support their services member, standing
by during long trainings and deployments; each of these families know
the risks, but accept this life of service; and

WHEREAS, Military families share a bond with each other, and share
valuable information pertaining to military news, benefits, fitness and
so much more; and

WHEREAS, The freedom, peace, and security that citizens of the
United States enjoy today are the direct results of the sacrifices and
the continued vigilance of the members of the Armed Forces and their
families who selflessly serve to protect our Nation; and

WHEREAS, Today, with hundreds of thousands of service members
deployed overseas, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by active duty,

National Guard and Reserve military families, has never been more
important; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim November 2021, as
Military Family Appreciation Month in the State of New York; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of the Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
