HONORING Chief Kevin C. Beach upon the occasion of
his retirement after 27 years of distinguished
service to the Rome Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chief Kevin
C. Beach upon the occasion of his retirement after 27 years of
distinguished service to the Rome Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Kevin C. Beach was appointed Chief of Police for the City
of Rome in 2008 at just 36 years old, making him one of the youngest men
ever appointed as the department's Chief; after 13 years in this
esteemed position, one of the longest tenures in the city's history, he
will officially retire at the end of January 2022; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Rome, Kevin C. Beach graduated from Rome
Free Academy in 1989, before partnering with his father Bruce Beach, who
was also a longtime member of the Rome Police Department, and several
others to run their own contracting business; and

WHEREAS, After serving as a Correctional Officer at the Oneida
County Jail, Kevin C. Beach began his illustrious career in law
enforcement as a patrolman for his hometown police department in
September of 1994; and

WHEREAS, Kevin C. Beach climbed the ranks to become detective
commander in 2005, and deputy chief in 2007; one year later, he was
promoted to Chief of Department; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Chief Kevin C. Beach steadfastly led the
strong push by his department to engage more with the citizens of Rome,
introducing such ideas as Shop with a Cop, Law Enforcement Day and the
Community Impact Unit; and

WHEREAS, Chief Kevin C. Beach, with his proficient leadership and
love for the City of Rome, truly epitomized the roll of a community
police officer; he tirelessly and selflessly served the residents of his
beloved community with compassion, integrity, and fairness, attributes
which will forever serve as an example for his fellow officers; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Alison, and their
children, Kelsey, Emily, Abby and Kevin, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and


WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Kevin C. Beach upon the occasion of his retirement, and to
wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Kevin C. Beach.
