Senator Phil Boyle held his first meeting as Chairman of the New York State Senate Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse on April 23, 2013.  This committee assignment provides Senator Boyle a prominent role in his advocacy for the prevention, treatment, and recovery services provided to all of New York State’s citizens who are struggling with addiction, as well as for their families.

“My position as Chairman of the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse allows me the opportunity to undertake a problem that impacts the lives of countless people throughout New York State,” Senator Boyle said.  “We must recognize the value of and invest in programs that have proven to be effective in reducing alcoholism, drug abuse, and the risk of individuals engaging in addictive behaviors.”

Senator Boyle was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse by NY State Senate Coalition Leaders Dean Skelos and Jeffrey Klein.

“I look forward to working with members of the Committee, my Senate colleagues, the chemical dependence treatment and recovery communities, and other stakeholders, to improve the lives of New Yorkers through a comprehensive and efficient system of addiction services,” Senator Boyle said.

Senate members serve two-year committee assignment terms concurrent with their legislative terms.
