Governor Cuomo signs into law legislation O'Mara co-sponsored this session authorizing 16 and 17 year olds to make decision to be organ and tissue donors

Encouraging organ and tissue donation is one of the most important life-saving actions that we can take in New York State.

"Encouraging organ and tissue donation is one of the most important life-saving actions that we can take in New York State," said State Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) following today's announcement that Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed into law legislation O'Mara co-sponsored this session authorizing 16 and 17 year olds to decide to make organ donations upon their death.

Today's action comes following a new law signed by the governor earlier this year -- a measure O'Mara also co-sponsored -- to extend New York's landmark organ donation initiative known as "Lauren's Law" for four additional years.  Read more on that action HERE.
