O’Mara praises new online tool to help those suffering from addicition find help: FindAddictionTreatment.ny.gov launched this week

Step by step by step we are building a stronger, more comprehensive and more effective local-state-federal response to the public health crisis of addiction and substance abuse.

Elmira, N.Y., December 8—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) today praised the state’s launching of an upgraded online search tool to help connect New Yorkers suffering from addiction, or anyone with a family member or friend struggling, to treatment programs and services.

The state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services’ (OASAS) “Treatment Availability Dashboard” application provides convenient access to all of the office’s services including crisis, residential, and inpatient and outpatient opioid treatment programs. The enhanced online and mobile-friendly platform allows state residents, treatment providers, care coordinators and health insurance professionals to locate a treatment bed or other available services, anywhere in the state.

“Step by step by step we are building a stronger, more comprehensive and more effective local-state-federal response to the public health crisis of addiction and substance abuse,” said O’Mara, a member of the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction.  “We need to keep expanding these prevention, treatment and recovery programs and services to ensure that individuals and families suffering from addiction have access to the help they need.”

The expanded OASAS online search engine, http://www.FindAddictionTreatment.ny.gov, provides up-to-date information on available treatment beds, outpatient services and opioid treatment programs anywhere in the state, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

O’Mara also reminded area residents that New York State also operates a toll-free, 24-hour, 7-day-a-week HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY (1-877-846-7369), or by texting HOPENY (Short Code 467369).  Find out more about HOPENY.
