Senator Montgomery celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program.

In 1966, the Governor and the Legislature approved a bill to provide access to higher education for the educationally and economically disadvantaged students in New York State. In 2006, the program was renamed in honor of the important role former Assemblyman Arthur O. Eve played in establishing the program and increasing access to higher education in New York State.

The 2016-2017 budget funds the higher education opportunity programs:

¨ $18.3 million for Liberty Partnership Program

¨ $35.52 million for Higher Education Opportunity Program

¨ $15.7 million for Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP)

¨ $11.8 million for CSTEP

 

Arthur O. Eve Opportunity Programs:

¨ $225,000 for College Discovery

¨ $5 million for Education Opportunity Center

¨ $4 million for Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking (ATTAIN)

¨ $28.1 million for SEEK ($4.7 million increase)

¨ $32.2 million for EOP (Education Opportunity Program) - $5.4 million increase
