According to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, more than 72,00 Southern Tier residents live below the poverty line, including one in four children.

According to National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) President Frederic Rolando, "We deliver to every address in America at least six days a week, and because we’re such a consistent and familiar presence in neighborhoods, we’re all too familiar with the unfortunate reality of ongoing hunger.”

On Saturday, May 13, the NALC will sponsor its 25th  Annual "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive."
