Brooklyn says good-bye to one of its Community Heroes.

Senator Montgomery honors Randy Peers, CEO of Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) for his service and dedication to the empowerment of people in our great borough.

“My colleague and friend Randy Peers will be leaving his hometown of Brooklyn to take a position in Pennsylvania. As a member and former Chairperson of Community Board 7 and as the leader of OBT, he has had a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people. I thank him for his vision and remind him, that he may be living in another state, Brooklyn will always be home.”

Under Randy's leadership, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow has expanded to six locations throughout NYC and serves over 5,000 people annually. The mission of OBT is to help disadvantaged youth and adults recognize their own self-worth, and advance towards self-sufficiency and financial security through job training, academic reinforcement, improved life skills, job placement, and support services. Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow is the largest provider of job training services for 17-24 year olds who are not working and not in school, the majority of whom do not have a High School Diploma.
