Senator Palumbo Encourages Participation in Shed the Meds to Get Rid of Unwanted or Expired Prescription Medications

Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C - New Suffolk) will be hosting a Shed the Meds prescription drug collection event in cooperation with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, July 17 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at Longwood Public Library in Middle Island, NY.

Shed the Meds will take place in the parking lot of the Longwood Public Library. Medications can be brought as-is in bottles or bags and does not need to be sorted. All medication donations will be incinerated.  Appointments are not necessary.

“We’ve received great feedback at this event in the past and we’re happy to partner with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to offer this great service to the Longwood community,” said Senator Palumbo. “Shed the Meds is a way for residents to get rid of unwanted or expired medications as a way to keep them out of our groundwater and away from children.”
