Senator O'Mara on New York State's rush to full electrification: Not feasible, reliable, or affordable (WATCH)

"New York State's rush to full electrification will not be feasible, reliable, or affordable," said Senator O'Mara.
Senator O'Mara warned that the state's rush to full electrification will deliver enormous costs and consequences for all of New York’s ratepayers, citizens, communities, businesses and manufacturers, and local economies.

Albany, N.Y., May 2—With New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the Legislature’s Democrat majorities about to enact a final state budget that includes far-reaching clean energy mandates on all New Yorkers, including the nation’s first ban on natural gas, Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats), Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee, today again warned that the state’s rapid push to impose full electrification on all New Yorkers will not be feasible, reliable, or affordable.

O’Mara, a longstanding and frequent critic of the push by Albany Democrats to implement the energy mandates along what he and many others view as a radical and unworkable timeline, made his comments on the floor of the Senate during debate on the new state budget.

He warned that the state's rush to full electrification will deliver enormous costs and consequences for all of New York’s ratepayers, citizens, communities, businesses and manufacturers, and local economies.
