- 2025 Legislative Survey
To best represent the residents of the 60th NYS Senate district, it is important that I hear directly from constituents. Residents often share their thoughts through phone calls, emails, and letters to our office, or in person at community events. I also find surveys useful to gather input from thousands of people at once.
Back in November, my office sent questionnaires to all households in the district, asking residents to share their thoughts by mail or through our website. The survey, while not scientific, provides a snapshot of where residents stand on some important state issues. As promised, here are the results.
1.) Do you agree with the State’s “bell-to-bell” ban on cell phones in school?
Yes 87% No 7% Undecided 6%
2.) Should NYS develop and construct a new nuclear power plant in the upstate region?
Yes 44% No 32% Undecided 24%
3.) Starting Jan. 1, NYS will require most newly constructed buildings to be fully powered by electricity. Do you support this? (This initiative is now on hold)
Yes 8% No 86% Undecided 6%
4.) Proposed legislation would allow offshore wind turbines in Lake Erie. Do you agree with this idea?
Yes 29% No 60% Undecided 11%
5.) Do you support work requirements for able-bodied Medicaid recipients?
Yes 80% No 10% Undecided 10%
6.) Would you support a constitutional amendment to allow NYS to redraw Congressional districts more often than once every ten years?
Yes 29% No 46% Undecided 25%
7.) Do you support the use of vote-by-mail ballots in NYS?
Yes 44% No 51% Undecided 5%
8.) Would you support single-payer health care, a government-run health insurance plan for all NYS residents?
Yes 27% No 52% Undecided 21%
Again, while not scientific, the results give me a sense of how residents feel about these critical issues and help me to advocate on your behalf. I am grateful to everyone who responded and truly honored to serve as your voice in Albany.
