Senator Savino Supports Rights of EZ Pass Workers to Organize

Diane J. Savino

*******STATEMENT REGARDING EZ PASS CHALLENGE OF EMPLOYEE VOTE TO JOIN CWA**********

“After months of enduring an anti-union campaign waged by Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), the company that runs the EZ Pass System, employees voted to become part of the Communication Workers of America Local 1102.

Workers were subjected to intimidation tactics and stalling of both the election and ballot counting.  The ballots were finally counted in June 26, 2009, with a majority of the employees voting to join the union by 144 to 126.

Unfortunately ACS refuses to acknowledge this democratic vote and is now challenging the results, even though it has continuously lost each challenge in regards to this election.

The right to organize is one of our fundamental rights in this country and is the foundation of every single hard-fought benefit that workers now enjoy.

ACS needs to accept the will of its employees and their right to join collectively and be represented by a union.”
