MYFOXNY.COM - New York State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. wants to see a $2 toll for drivers to cross the East River bridges.

The idea isn't a new one for Espada who proposed the tolls last year.

Espada tells Good Day NY's Rosanna Scotto that he wants to use the money to save free, student  Metro Cards.

"Last year, it would have been a blank check to the MTA, but this year now that Metro Cards for students are getting the ax, I say bring back the tolls to save them," said Espada on Friday. "Parents and grandparents will pay $2 or $4 ... they'll say yes."
