Beginning in 1937, Italian immigrants built this stunning example of Italian-American vernacular architecture in New York City. In 2000, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places through the efforts of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute. This 75-year-old building is in need of repairs, and this grant will go a long way to assuring the grotto's survival for generations to come.
