Nassau police who aided pregnant Inwood woman are honored

Nassau County police officer Ryan Napolitano and Nassau County police medic Kerri Ahern were recognized by State Sen. Todd Kaminsky for their quick reactions as they helped to deliver a baby in the Costco parking in North Lawrence on July 29. Officers Police Officers Angelina Minerva and Nicholas Ryan, who were also responded to the scene were unavailable.

Minerva, Napolitano, Ryan and Ahern responded to the call of a woman in labor on that Monday morning. Inwood resident Shantie Krissoondatt gave birth to a baby girl minutes later, and was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where she was reunited with the first responders.

“The heroism and dedication of Police officers Nicholas Ryan, Angelina Minerva, Ryan Napolitano and Police Medic Kerri Ahern were on full display as they assisted with a successful delivery,” Kaminsky said in a news release. “I was pleased to honor them for their successful interventions as well as for their service to our community as a whole.”
