From radical “tree huggers” to trained ecologists collaborating with the government to influence environmental policy, Protectors of Pine Oak Woods has evolved in the 50 years since its inception.
State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton said she looks forward to continuing that work; "Through their advocacy and education, they have raised awareness and inspired a lasting appreciation of Staten Island. We greatly appreciate their dedication to preserving the beauty of our parkland and open spaces."
