STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island will host its fourth annual Women Front & Center event on Wednesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Li Greci’s Staaten.

The event celebrates female empowerment while raising funds for the Lucille & Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island.

The JCC will honor four women for their leadership and support of Sunrise Day Camp during the program. State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton will receive an award for securing $550,000 in funding from New York State for Sunrise Day Camp.

Scarcella-Spanton represents New York’s 23rd District, covering the North and East Shores of Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn.

Her legislative efforts to help families affected by stillbirth earned her recognition from an advocacy group. She organized families from each district to speak to their assemblymembers and garnered 148 sponsors for legislation that is now law.
