STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday committed $15 million to help establish Staten Island’s first Community Justice Center, providing the strongest financial backing yet for a project local officials have pursued for years.

“I’m grateful to Governor Hochul for investing in Staten Island organizations that support our community,” said state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, a Democrat representing the North Shore and South Brooklyn. “From giving children and families a place to build community and create lasting memories at Snug Harbor Little League, to ensuring our seniors have a welcoming space to socialize and access important resources at the Stapleton Senior Center, these investments make a meaningful difference.
