Sen. Scarcella-Spanton recognizes Staten Island businesses, local leaders for community impact

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton recognized a group of Staten Island businesses and community members earlier this month for their contributions to the borough during an awards ceremony at the Gerard Carter Center, Stapleton.
The Sept. 16 event celebrated recipients of the New York State Empire and Commendation Awards.
According to Scarcella-Spanton, the awards recognize organizations and individuals who go above and beyond in serving their communities and supporting their neighbors.
“I am proud to recognize the outstanding businesses and individuals that contribute to our vibrant community,” Scarcella-Spanton said in announcing the event. “The recipients of these awards go above and beyond to lead through community impact and demonstrate outstanding service to make a real difference.”
“Together, these businesses and individuals embody the heart and soul of Senate District 23,” she said.
