STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A gun buyback event Saturday in Stapleton brought in 130 firearms, the most collected during District Attorney Michael E. McMahon’s tenure.

The “No Questions Asked” cash-for-guns event was a partnership between the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD and state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton.

Scarcella-Spanton said the event was an important step toward public safety.

“This is an important step to keeping our borough safe,” she said. “Thank you to the NYPD for their continued efforts to protect our community.”
