Staten Island’s 140-year-old Kreischer Mansion is reopening soon: A new atrium is coming next

The doors of the Kreischer Mansion will soon reopen after years of restoration — inviting visitors to explore the South Shore property and step back into a chapter of Staten Island history from more than 140 years ago.
Restoration of the Kreischer Mansion was also made possible with funding from local elected officials Sen. Andrew Lanza, Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Assemblymember Michael Reilly. The senators secured $315,000 in funding, while Reilly’s office secured another $130,000.
“There’s so many people that we see and work with every year, but the passion that you have brought to this project is something that is so special, and Staten Island is lucky to have you here,” said Scarcella-Spanton, a Democrat who represents the North Shore and parts of southern Brooklyn. “We are lucky to call you hometown people. I’m so proud of you both, and I’m proud to be able to secure this funding.”
