Statement From Senate Majority Conference Leader John L. Sampson RE: LIHEAP Funding

“New York State will soon receive an infusion of $359 million dollars from the federal government through LIHEAP that will help our most vulnerable residents afford their heating costs this fall and winter. In this economy it is important that we maintain our commitment to helping families get back on their feet. Under no circumstance should anyone feel their only option is to go cold.
 
I thank the Obama Administration and our federal officials for their continued support of this program, and for working with our members to target these funds efficiently. Because of their support, we can help to ensure that all eligible New Yorkers know this program is available and take full advantage of the savings and weatherization opportunities that exist.”
