Press Conference Today To Raise Public Awareness & Offer A Reward For The Capture Of The Individual Who Raped A 79 Year-Old Woman

New York State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada, Jr. will join State Senator Ruben Diaz, Sr., Chair of the State Senate's Committee on Aging at a press conference to be held in front of 1400 Benson Street in The Bronx, on Thursday July 22, 2010 at 12 noon.

The building is the scene where a 79 year-old woman was raped this past Monday July 18, 2010 as she came home from a trip. Senator Diaz brought the incident to public attention yesterday July 20th, and his remarks were published in today's edition of El Diario La Prensa. Senator Diaz had remarked, that "...not even children nor our senior citizens feel safe in this our City."

Senator Espada will offer a $5,000.00 reward for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator of this horrible crime, and the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation will match Espada's reward with an additional $5,000.00.

"Our seniors , children and all citizens must be able to live free of fear, and we will not rest until this perpetrator is caught," remarked Senator Espada.
