Award-Winning Artist one of Dozens Taking Part in

Ritchie’s Effort to Highlight Local Artists

92 year-old artist Marie (“Ree”) Ingalsbe visited the Watertown office of State Senator Patty Ritchie recently, to show the Senator photos of her more than 100 original pieces of art.

Mrs. Ingalsbe is one of  more than a dozen from Central and Northern New York participating in “Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists,” an initiative to highlight local creative talent which launched last March.

Mrs. Ingalsbe’s passion for art began as an elementary student.  From there, Ingalsbe studied art through college courses and further honed her skills by participating in workshops across the United States.

Ingalsbe’s work has won a number of awards in local and regional shows and has been featured in many exhibits and private collections—most notably the Nelson Rockefeller permanent collection, featured at the Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center, also known as “the Egg” in Albany.

Senator Ritchie is inviting the public to her offices to view the artwork on display through her “Senator Patty Ritchie Celebrates Local Artists” program.

The following artists are being featured at the below locations:

·         Oswego County, 46 East Bridge St., Oswego:  Loie Mechetti, an award-winning artist from Phoenix.

·         Jefferson County, 317 Washington St., Watertown: Marie (Ree) Ingalsbe, an award-winning, Watertown artist in her 90’s who has created more than 100 different, original pieces of art.

·         St. Lawrence County, 330 Ford St., Ogdensburg: Justin Fishel of Ogdensburg shoots high definition photos of St. Lawrence County landmarks, offering a new perspective on what are often familiar scenes.

Artwork will be available for viewing at the above locations during normal business hours.  Senator Ritchie is encouraging additional artists to participate in the program.  Those interested can contact (315) 782-3418.
