Statement by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos on Chamber of Commerce Report

June 15, 2012

A new report by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce showing that New York has jumped 11 spots in the rankings of top states for growth, productivity and livability is proof positive that the Governor and Senate Republicans are making progress in turning New York around.

Over the last 18 months, we’ve brought spending under control, slammed the door on tax increases that make it more difficult for businesses and families, and laid a solid foundation to create thousands of new jobs.

We’ve reduced middle class taxes, enacted a property tax cap and approved Recharge NY.  Under our leadership, Albany is no longer a hindrance to small businesses and innovators, it’s a partner for economic progress.

While there is more to be done to help businesses create jobs, including passage of our sensible ‘New Jobs, New York’ plan, it’s clear that we are moving in a new and positive direction.
