Senator Fuschillo, New York State Department of Financial Services, & Village of Freeport to Sponsor Foreclosure Prevention Program

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

December 9, 2013

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) and the Village of Freeport to provide services and assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure.

Senator Fuschillo and Mayor Robert Kennedy have arranged to have DFS’ Mobile Foreclosure Relief Center to come to Freeport Village Hall (46 North Ocean Avenue, Freeport) on Friday, December 13th from 10:00 am- 6:00 pm.

DFS staff members will be on hand to speak individually with homeowners and assess where they are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process; provide homeowners with information about specific loan modification programs which may be available to them or provide help to homeowners who have already sought mortgage modifications; assist homeowners in communicating with their mortgage lender or servicer or intercede directly on their behalf; and offer information on how they can file complaints with the Department so that suspected cases of lender or mortgage servicer abuses, such as predatory lending practices, can be investigated

Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. The program is open to everyone and no appointments are necessary.

Residents who would like more information about this program can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630. Homeowners who are unable to attend the program but need assistance can call the Department of Financial Services’ foreclosure hotline at 1-800-342-3736 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
