Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is encouraging residents to donate their Christmas trees to our City’s environment at a designated City park next weekend. Mulchfest 2013, “TREECYCLE” will have two locations in Senator Golden’s district on January 12th and 13th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in both Owl’s Head Park (68th Street and Colonial Road) and Marine Park (Avenue U and East 33rd Street).
Senator Marty Golden stated, “As the Christmas season winds down, what better way to dispose of your Christmas tree than by giving the environment of New York City a present. Last year, many local residents participated, as it makes you feel good knowing that the tree is not just going to end up in the garbage.”
The wood chips are used by the City to nourish trees and plants, or you can take home your very own bag of mulch to use in your garden. All lights and ornaments must be removed before bringing the tree to Mulchfest. Other locations in Brooklyn and the throughout the City can be found at www.nyc.gov/parks or by calling 311.
