Pistol Permit "Opt-Out" Privacy Forms Now Available in Local County Clerks' Offices

Gallivan Urges All Permit Holders Who Wish To Keep Personal Information Private To Complete and Submit Forms To Their Local County Clerk's Office

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I - Elma) announced today that State Police “Opt-Out” privacy forms are now available in each of the four counties that comprise the 59th Senate District.

The forms being made available are in accord with a provision of the newly enacted NY SAFE Act that allows New York State pistol permit holders to request that their personal information be kept private and confidential by completing a State Police “Opt-Out” form and submitting it to a designated county official.

The forms are now available online with instructions through the following county municipal offices, or for additional information, please contact your county clerk’s office directly:

According to the NYSAFE Act, pistol permit holders will have until April 15, 2013 to submit completed forms. Permit holders will still be able to submit completed forms after April 15th but it is recommended that all permit holders who wish to opt-out do so as soon as convenient.

Senator Gallivan voted against the NY SAFE Act in January of 2013 and has been a vocal critic of many of its provisions.

Prior to being elected to the New York State Senate in 2010, Patrick Gallivan served 15 years with the New York State Police and was twice elected as Sheriff of Erie County.
