Senator Griffo Statement on Clarkson University Being Selected For START-UP Initiative

"Clarkson University continues to be a real teammate in our ongoing efforts to revitalize the north country economy.
"First, its Shipley Center for Innovation was picked as the hub for information and resources for new businesses in the north country.
"Now the college’s creative pitch has won the approval of the START-UP NY board and is sure to attract new businesses in the fields of nanoscience, web development and sustainable technology – just to name a few.
"I thank Clarkson University for its aggressive efforts in securing this designation, which the college believes could create about 75 jobs in this region in the next 3 to 5 years. I know the university has already fielded inquiries from a dozen businesses regarding its vacant space. I look forward to helping both Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, which earlier won approval, attract emerging companies to their campuses and introduce them to all the talented college alumni and students who are ready to mentor a business, fill a job or apply for an internship."
