The New York State Senate today passed a bill (S.1530), sponsored by Senator George Amedore, that would authorize the town of Marbletown to relocate their town hall and municipal offices into the former Rosendale Elementary School.

“This bill will help Rondout Valley School District, it will help the municipalities of Marbletown and Rosendale, and most importantly, it will help the taxpayers,” said Senator Amedore. “We should be doing everything we can to help our municipalities operate more efficiently and achieve cost-savings wherever they can, and this bill helps accomplish that.”

The former Rosendale Elementary School, which closed in 2012, is already an energy efficient space and handicapped accessible. Senator Amedore received home rule messages from the town boards of Marbletown and Rosendale, who each passed a resolution in support of this legislation.

The bill was sent to the Assembly for action, where it is being sponsored by Assemblyman Kevin Cahill.
