(Middletown, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the Women’s Equality Agenda, a top priority of the Senate Republican Conference, has been signed into law by the Governor. The measures include efforts to fight human trafficking, require equal work for equal pay, combat sexual harassment in the workplace, as well as stop gender discrimination in employment and housing decisions. Other pieces of  legislation include improvements in workplace accommodations for pregnant women, as well as improving existing laws that deal with domestic violence victims.

“My colleagues in the Senate Republican Conference have made the passage of this agenda a top priority,” said Senator Bonacic. “The first action that we took in this past legislative session was to pass this package of bills. I am proud that we have provided women across New York with the protections and opportunities they deserve.”

The eight bills comprising the Women’s Equality Agenda were first passed in 2013 and 2014, and were not acted upon by the Assembly until this year’s legislative session.
