Senator Bonacic Issues Statement Regarding Passage of Anti-Human Trafficking Legislation

John J. Bonacic

March 16, 2015

(Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) was pleased that the Assembly passed an anti-human trafficking piece of legislation today, March 16th. Senate Republicans passed the same bill on the very first day of session in January as part of the Women’s Equality Agenda. The anti-human trafficking bill would strengthen anti-trafficking provisions and increase penalties for traffickers.

“I am glad to see that this important piece of legislation was passed by the Assembly,” said Senator Bonacic. “Senate Republicans have been calling on Assembly Democrats to pass this, and other important pieces of the Women’s Equality Agenda for over two years. This package would deal with pay equity, pregnancy discrimination, as well as sexual harassment in the workplace, among other things. It is my hope that Assembly Democrats will pass the remainder of the Women’s Equality Agenda, thus strengthening our commitment to equality for all women in New York State.”
