Since day one, creating jobs and growing the economy have been top priorities for state Senator Rob Ortt (R, C, I – North  Tonawanda). That’s why he, along with others in the Senate Majority, has made it one of the main focuses in the “Brighter Future” budget plan recently passed in the Senate.

The Senate’s plan implements a $200 million small business package, which will help spark new business and provide more job opportunities.

“This proposal will have a positive impact on thousands of small businesses throughout the state, which in turn, will jumpstart our economy, create jobs and help our region prosper,” said Sen. Ortt. “It’s just one measure that will ensure long-term progress for not only my constituents in Niagara, Orleans, and Monroe counties, but for all residents in New York.”

In addition, the Senate’s one-house budget resolution completely eliminates the 18-a surcharge, which drives up energy taxes and kills jobs instead of create them. Removing the surcharge would save taxpayers and businesses $285 million over two years.
