Senator Serrano Focuses On Senior Services During The Month Of October

Jose M. Serrano

November 9, 2016

In so many ways, our senior citizens represent the backbone and foundation of our families and communities. They understand the importance of history and tradition, while also recognizing areas for change and growth. We appreciate all they have done to help build our community, and now it's important that we support those who have given so much to us.

Senator Serrano recognizes that obtaining quality health-related services, housing repairs, and other important services can be a daunting challenge for many senior citizens and their caretakers. This October our constituent hours focused  on services for these valuable community members. There are a vast amount of resources for seniors provided by the city and state, and it was our pleasure to connect seniors and their families to these services during October's off-site constituent hours.

Our office partnered with the Tenant Support Unit of the Human Resources Administration (HRA), the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence, MTA Access-A-Ride, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital to ensure that seniors and their families are connected to important resources that provide assistance with housing, transportation accommodations, combating elder abuse, and health services.
