Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) says the Senate has unanimously passed legislation (S-6058) to designate a portion of the state highway system in West Seneca as “Veterans Memorial Highway.” The designation would apply to that portion of state route 277, Union Road, located in the Town of West Seneca.
“We can never fully repay the brave men and women who have served our country in the U.S. military,” Gallivan said. “This highway designation will serve as a lasting tribute and a reminder of the service and sacrifice made by all veterans who call West Seneca home.”
The legislation was introduced at the request of West Seneca Supervisor Sheila Meegan and members of the Town Board. The bill will be sent to the Assembly for consideration.
The legislation would require the Commissioner of Transportation to install and maintain ceremonial signage along the highway to acknowledge the designation.
