LEWISTON – New York State Senator Rob Ortt (R, C, I – North Tonawanda) recently hosted State Senator Joe Griffo (R, C, I – Rome) for a series of meetings across the region. The trip included a tour of the Robert Moses Niagara Power Project. Griffo, who chairs the New York State Senate Committee on Energy and Telecommunications, was able to see recent upgrades made to the plant and discuss broader issues with Ortt and energy stakeholders across the region.

State Senator Rob Ortt said, “The Niagara Power Project is a true asset for our region and our state. With the greatest generating capacity in the state, its importance cannot be overstated. The project is a major component of the state’s energy portfolio and plays a critical role in the Western New York economy. I’m thankful that my friend and colleague, Senator Griffo, was able to tour the site. It was helpful to discuss the plant’s momentous past. But even more valuable was the hands-on tour where we were able to examine recent upgrades and discuss how this clean renewable energy can play an even bigger role in our regions and our state’s economy.”

State Senator Joseph Griffo said, “As chairman of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee, I was pleased to be invited by my colleague Senator Ortt to tour the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant. This is an impressive hydroelectric power facility that continues to contribute to the economic vitality of the region and the state. I appreciate all the work they do, and this was a valuable opportunity to observe all of the upgrades that have made this plant the largest producer of electricity in New York State.”
